After consulting with us, instead of three cobots, our customer got:

• 1 cobot for all machines • Space-saving ceiling mounting of a long seventh axle • Seamless integration into the existing process flow • Optimized process flow for more production volume

The initial situation

WITHOUT LINROB

Before talking to us, our customer required a separate cobot for each of their CNC machines to switch the respective machine on and off, as well as load and unload it. In the meantime, individual cobots were idle. In order to sensibly increase its production capacity, our customer wanted to automate additional steps in their production, such as the welding on of small components. As the components for the CNC machines are delivered on a conveyor belt, the floor mounting of a seventh axle was not possible: A large-scale conversion of the production chain was out of the question for our customer.

The solution

WITH LINROB

We were happy to take on this challenge. In our consultation meeting, we decided without further ado to simply mount a 2D linrob on the ceiling. By mounting the linear axles on the ceiling, the components that need to be processed can be brought to the machines without any problems. The combination of linrob and one cobot simply transports the parts that need to be welded to the CNC machines and then switches them on.

 

Since in this case only one cobot is attached to the linrob, the machines are now switched on in a staggered manner. There are welcome side effects of this necessary measure: Cost-intensive downtimes are reduced. Productivity is increased.

 

The remaining cobots are used elsewhere in the company, thus pushing automation further forward.

Conclusion

Thanks to our individually scalable linear robots, which do not lose accuracy even with large axle lengths, you achieve unprecedented flexibility, whether for wall, ceiling or floor mounting.
